FIRST IOM EVENT –SATURDAY 22 APRIL – MANSFIELD HOLLOW SITE
The forecast for Saturday was for rain and cool conditions from Tuesday on, so I knew that the weathermen were confident. Even though I can’t do anything about the weather, I still worry. On Saturday the rain was light and even so it ended up not being much of a problem. Everyone seemed to be prepared for the conditions… As long as your feet stay dry and your body warm, life is good. The weathermen did screw up the wind forecast…they said “10 to 20 from the East”. What we got was light and sometimes drifter winds. The light winds I can take, but sitting and wishing gets me down. I just point the boat at the next mark and wait. We got to see some new boats. Greg Vasileff showed up with a new boat he just finished building the night before. This one did not leak or break down so he won with Dan Crowley second and Al Dion third. Bill Kopelcheck sailed his new boat for the first time and did well. The results are shown below:

I can’t imagine that we will have rain for the third consecutive event so expect bright blue sky and perfect breezes for the US ones. Note, the Solings qualify as USOMs so they can sail with us.
